Employment rates can be one of the best indicators of an economy’s health. In addition creating and retaining jobs is one of the primary goals of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Utah state agency activities funded by Recovery Act dollars have created and retained 598 full-time equivalent positions as of September 20.
Employment data is measured monthly. Utah's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in July was 6%, unchanged from June. On a seasonally-adjusted basis, Utah's total non-farm employment declined by 4,900 jobs between June and July after declining 8,200 jobs between May and June.
